Store within a Store
I spearheaded the project from concept to execution across five Best Buy Canada test locations. With a vision to create an open, inviting area with a premium finish, I opted for a minimal base to maximize space and added mahogany countertops for a touch of elegance. To captivate customers, we incorporated LED lighting trim around the countertops and logos. I drove the creative direction, facilitated seamless communication among all stakeholders, provided critical feedback during the prototype phase, and ensured the project adhered to timelines and budgets. The success of these stores has led to our expansion into 17 locations and counting.
Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Trade Show
CES is one of the world’s largest electronics trade shows, attracting over 180,000 attendees annually. Instead of a traditional show floor presence, we transformed the entire Hard Rock Hotel Suites into a dynamic showroom, with each suite representing a different product segment. I was instrumental in brainstorming the theme and implementing the design. That year, our theme was “35 Years of Innovation.” Our design philosophy showcased actual sketches from our product designers, highlighting the thought process and innovations behind each product. To reinforce this theme, we crafted all typography and logos to resemble rough sketches, creating a cohesive and engaging visual narrative.
Car Wrap
I undertook freelance work for a startup that transforms cars into mobile billboards, compensating drivers based on time and distance through an app. Imagine it as an Uber for advertisements. For the Target wrap, I drew inspiration from their holiday season Sunday circulars. To balance the boldness of Target’s signature red, I incorporated white elements and used snowflakes as dividers, creating a festive yet harmonious design.
Vascular Trade Show
I designed a 10′ x 20′ tension fabric backdrop with a central display positioned about 12″ in front of the side panels to add depth. To raise awareness for our symposium and hands-on demonstration, we employed a multifaceted marketing approach that included large digital signage, social media campaigns, postcards, and pull-up banners. I oversaw the entire design process for all elements used at the trade show, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presence.
End Cap Process
Once a partnership is established, I collaborate with vendors to create ‘white elephant’ 3D mock-ups, capturing our discussions. After refining the structure, I overlay graphics to depict the final product accurately. For this particular design, I aimed for depth within limited space, incorporating a green acrylic panel to break up the back panel. I backlit the Acer logo and elevated it slightly, while quotes were angled and set off the surface. LED trim was added for a finishing touch. My role spans the entire design process, from concept to execution, including project management tasks.
Costco Pallet Displays
Following a design process similar to end caps and in-store displays, pallets present unique challenges due to shipping requirements and logistics. These pallets must be engineered for secure shipping, easy unpacking, and hassle-free setup on the store floor.
My responsibilities encompass the entire design journey, from conceptualization to final execution, including product packaging and stand design. I oversee the approval process and manage the project, handling pricing, production scheduling, and shipping logistics for over 350 locations.
PC Gaming Displays
Across multiple displays promoting the launch of Acer’s Predator gaming lineup, our challenge was to maintain design consistency while adhering to diverse store requirements of different retailers. Regardless of the retail environment, our aim was to ensure a uniform appearance to bolster brand awareness.
